内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This paper describes the significance of artist-led dance educa tion in schools. Recently, activities that reach out into the community to recruit school activity instructors are increasing. Previous studies have shown that instruction in dance and body expression by artists is particularly effective for teachers as well as for the children. However, there have been no studies focusing on the activity from the point of view of the artists, and there is an unmet need to study dance education by artists through the artists’ voices. The author and others have organized an annual seminar titled‘Dance Education Laboratory’since 2013 for school officials and for artists instructing dance activities in schools, to consider the current situation. We analyzed the artists’ discourse in‘Labo Talk’, a talk session program within the‘Dance Education Laboratory’ and concentrated on the characteristics of workshops as seen by the artists. . As the result, we clarified the salient characteristics as follows: 1. Artists’ techniques can take very original approaches, 2. Artists have different standards for measuring the success of their workshops, 3. Artists are seen as unusual adults from the children’s point of view, and this may reverse the teacher’s preconceived ideas about dance activity itself, 4. The role of the artists is to spread dance in the world and importantly, to develop the children’s ‘Zest for living’, 5. Artists and children influence each other as they both find new ways of expression. As previous studies have shown, we have found that dance education conducted by artists has great significance for the students.
