One of the main\ncomponents of pretend play is “seeing things as they are. This has conventionally been described and\ndiscussed as “seeing A as B and making use of it. On the other hand, it is frequently observed in early\nchildhood that “A is seen as B” due to the unintentional activation of the symbolic function by the individual.\nBased on these facts, the concept of seeing as the action of the symbolic function that occurs unintentionally\nwas defined as “first seeing,” and the concept of seeing as “seeing A as B and utilizing it,” which has been\ndescribed as “second seeing. Then, while using this concept, we discussed it in light of children observed in\nkindergartens, with the aim of capturing the inner reality of “seeing” as children do in their play.
