Among them, vitakka and vicāra are known to be two important terms\nwhich appear in the first stage in the sequence of the jhāna meditation. They are in general translated as “initial\napplication or applied thought” and “sustained application or sustained thought” in English, however, it\nseems to be confusing and unintelligible about the exact meaning of each concept and their difference. Vitakka\nand vicāra are not discussed in the Pāli Nikāyas, but they are separately defined in the Abhidhamma, and\nexplained with a variety of similes in the Milindapañha and the Peṭakopadesa. We can also find that the\nVimuttimagga, which belongs to the Abhayagirivihāravāsins, quotes the similes about a difference of vitakka\nand vicāra from the Peṭakopadesa. Furthermore, the Visuddhimagga by Buddhghosa and Pāli commentaries\ninherit from the previous discussions and arrange the definitions of the two concepts. In this paper, I shall\ninvestigate a transition of the interpretations of vitakka and vicāra from the Abhidhamma to the Visuddhimagga\nin Theravāda Buddhism, and make clear the various figulative images regarding the two functions\nin the process of thinking in meditaion.","subitem_description_language":"ja","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"こども教育宝仙大学","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAlternatives":[{"creatorAlternative":"HAYASHI, Takatsugu","creatorAlternativeLang":"en"}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"林, 隆嗣","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ハヤシ, タカツグ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"00322975","nameIdentifierScheme":"e-Rad","nameIdentifierURI":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/search/?qm=00322975"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2024-03-21"}],"filename":"kiyou1502.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"722 KB"}],"format":"application/pdf","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://hosen.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2000005/files/kiyou1502.pdf"},"version_id":"b6459891-9d71-4762-b8d8-3cc16bed0bd4"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"尋伺","subitem_subject_language":"ja","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"『ミリンダパンハ』","subitem_subject_language":"ja","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"『ペータコーパデーサ』","subitem_subject_language":"ja","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"『解脱道論』","subitem_subject_language":"ja","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"『清浄道論』","subitem_subject_language":"ja","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"瞑想中の思惟作用について ─ 上座部仏教における尋(vitakka)・伺(vicāra)の区別 ─","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"瞑想中の思惟作用について ─ 上座部仏教における尋(vitakka)・伺(vicāra)の区別 ─","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"On the Functions of Thinking in Meditation: Vitakka and Vicāra in Theravāda Buddhism","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"18","path":["1710466557495"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2024-03-21"},"publish_date":"2024-03-21","publish_status":"0","recid":"2000005","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["瞑想中の思惟作用について ─ 上座部仏教における尋(vitakka)・伺(vicāra)の区別 ─"],"weko_creator_id":"18","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-03-21T02:15:48.716769+00:00"}
